160 YEARS
Since 1863, when the brand was founded by Jean-Baptiste CAMUS, these five elements have come together to form one entity: passion, ambition, determination, perfectionism, sincerity. Inseparable, and complementary, together they epitomize the uniqueness of the greatest of cognac Houses.
Since 1863, “CAMUS ” has been the name of five generations of men who have handed on the reins from father to son. First was Jean-Baptiste CAMUS, the founder, then his two sons, Edmond and Gaston, the famous “CAMUS Frères,” whose name can still be seen on the labels of venerable bottles in museums and private collections. After them came Michel, son of Gaston, succeeded by Jean-Paul, then Cyril. Each of them in turn shaped the fate of the company, following the twists and turns of the world’s progress, its geopolitical developments, economic revolutions, technical inventions… as well as the tastes of the times.
Since 1863, “CAMUS” has been the name of a family of French winegrowers enterprising enough to take their place as a cognac House alongside the established English and Irish dynasties who had settled on the lands of Cognac a hundred years earlier.
Since 1863, “CAMUS” has embodied an ongoing voyage that draws on its immutable roots for guidance and nourishment, bringing about beauty and refinement and embodying a true Living Tradition.

At the head of the House of CAMUS since 2004, Cyril Camus has focused on building a far-reaching global distribution network, a strong Chinese presence and developing partnerships with high-quality third-party brands.
Fifth generation of the founding family, he upholds the House’s strong and avant-garde values : to defend its authenticity and independence and always seek the exceptional from Cognacs that best reflect the rich flavors of the terroir.
In 2014 Cyril Camus was nominated as one of the top 50 people to have marked Sino-French relations.
Early 2017 he was welcomed into the National Order of the Legion of Honor by Jean-Pierre Raffarin, former French Prime Minister. In 2017, Cyril Camus was voted Top Family Business Leader by Campden FB, and entered the Babson Entrepreneur Hall of Fame.
Today, he is Trustee of Babson College, Chair of its Global Advisory Board, Co-founder and Honorary President of Réseau-Entreprendre Poitou-Charentes, Board Member of the Institute for Family Entrepreneurship and a Member of New York University President’s Global Council.
